Everyone asks us what are we going to do? What’s next?

The next step is to make new fresh fancy design. The original goals behind us were to create something absolutely new and not to lose our main advantages. It was long way to redesign Somethings and all in all it is almost done! It’s taken us so much time to complete this because we tried to consider all your feedbacks. In addition to the visual refresh were added several useful features, more detailed review will be in the next post. May be you have any interesting ideas which features should be added.

We’re all really excited to see how you’ll like it. Here is the first screenshot of redesigned Somethings. Please take a look at these and let us know what you think. We are very interested in your opinion.

    What about iPhone version?

Yes, as we said earlier, we are going to develop somethings for iphone, but, unfortunately, not as soon as we want. It will take a lot of resources, which we don’t have now. But we really try to solve this problem.

Oh, it looks great! Go on improving such a great thing! But what about fixing some bugs, for example most annoying one – I’m constantly getting my deleted projects back, over and over again! I delete it, and then after few days or weeks I see it againg! Please, stop it, it drives me mad :-) Thanks for your work.

Actually, bugfixing was the another reason why we decided to make full redesign, as we had several problems in the internal architecture. So we couldn’t fix some bugs at all or it could take too much resources. We learned a great deal about what was missing and what was wrong. New version is a result of full Somethings revision.

“Some things” I’d like to see: - Colors for similar projects - Some kind of priority for tasks

What do you mean “Colors for similar projects”? We have already done colors for tasks and projects in a similar focus (inbox, today, next..) What do you think about it? Priorities for different tasks will be surely done.

I always try to associate a project with an area. This way, when I click on ‘Projects’ I can see them ordered by area. When projects are not associated with areas they appear unoredered. Of course, you can assign the same tag to similar projects, but I think the list isn´t ordered by tag either (btw, when you select a tag there isn’t an easy way to show all the projects again). I thought would help to identify similar projects or the same tag. Was just an idea. Not so sure now.

I think the idea of printing lists is more useful. I have an area called ‘Books I want to read’ (the title is self-descripting). I’d like to print all the items in that area when I go shopping.

Hi Julia! Good Job, I’ve just fallen in love with “Somethings”

Some questions: There will be any local backup option? I’m worried about the possiblity of lossing all my work (server crashes, etc…).

I’d like to know too, how safe is our data in your server (server backup, data encryption, etc)

    Thanks in advance.

We are going to add synchronization with some desktop applications in the near future (for example, MS Outlook, iCal). You shouldn’t worry about your data now, ’cause DB backups on the remote server every day.

Hi guys, Actually I’m a new user, but the current design is awesome. I would be extremely grateful if there will be an option to retain the current design. It is simple, but very easy and fun to use.

And also an idea: is it possible to add an export to Google calendar?

    [Reply]

    Julia Reply:

We didn’t think about it. Not only the applications design will be changed but the backends internal architecture will be changed too, so it won’t be easy to retain current design. Certainly, export and import will be added but not now.

I second the opinion above that the current design is really fantastic and can’t entirely see the need for too much change.

Their are plenty of apps with clutter out there whereas what somethings has (from a first look) is an elegant simplicity!

I’ll repeat my request in a previous post: please give us an update on what is going in the lab? :-)
